The most awaited Apple event ‘Hey Siri, give us a hint’ event today, Apple announced several new products and upgrades as rumors predicted earlier. Major announcements list goes like this.
- Apple Watch
- iPad Pro
- Apple Tv
- iPhone 6s & iPhone 6s Plus
Apple Watch:
Apple today announced the fourth-generation Apple TV. The new Apple TV comes with a brand new user interface and remote. The remote comes with a glass-touch surface on the top over a set of buttons, allowing users to easily glide across the user interface. The remote also comes with a button for Siri, which allows the user to ask Siri for content to watch. For instance, users can ask Siri for comedies starring a certain actor. Siri searches across multiple content apps, allowing users to see all their options without opening individual apps like Netflix or HBO.
tvOS, the new operating system that powers Apple TV, is based off of iOS and makes it easy to build apps. The OS uses familiar development tools like Xcode and includes access to technologies like Metal, GameKit and UIKit. Apple has select developers access to tvOS and showed off several apps that have taken advantage of the early access. Netflix, HBONow and Hulu are some of the content providers who have developed all-new interfaces for the new Apple TV. Game developers like Disney Interactive and Activision will also be bringing console-quality games like “Disney Infinity 3.0” and “Guitar Hero” to the new Apple TV, which will be playable with the new remote. The new Apple TV will also play host to exclusive games developed specifically for the new platform, including Harmonix’s new game “Beat Sports”, which was developed specifically with the new remote in mind. iPhones and iPod touches can also be used as remotes with the new Apple TV.
iPad Pro:
The iPad Pro has a 64-bit A9X processor that delivers up to 1.6 times faster performance over the iPad Air 2, with up to twice as fast graphics. Apple also says the tablet has 80% faster performance and 90% faster graphics over portable PCs, allowing users to run apps such as iMovie with desktop-class performance.
The iPad Pro measures 6.9mm thick and weighs 1.57 pounds. The tablet features a four-speaker audio system — two speakers on each side — that balance frequencies and put out up to three times the audio level of the iPad Air 2.
Apple today announced the iPad mini 4 at its “Hey Siri” media event in San Francisco. The tablet is virtually a 7.9-inch version of the iPad Air 2 and will retail for $399. Apple has dropped the iPad mini 3 from its lineup, while the iPad mini 2 is available for $269.
Apple Announces Smart Keyboard and Apple Pencil for New iPad Pro
The Smart Keyboard comes built into a Smart Cover and uses the Smart Dome Switch from the MacBook, which means that the keys click down evenly from wherever you hit them. The keys are covered by an Apple-woven fabric. The Keyboard connects to the iPad Pro via a new magnetic connector called the Smart Connector, which can transmit both data and power at the same time.
The Apple Pencil is built using technology that can detect position, tilt and force. It can also calculate angle and orientation to produce both broad or shaded strokes. The Pencil also enables precision that allows artists to touch a single pixel. Apple says the Pencil’s battery lasts for hours and that it can charge by connecting to the iPad Pro’s lighting charger.
The Apple Pencil will retail for $99 while the Smart Keyboard will retail for $169. Both will be available in November alongside the new iPad Pro
