MacBook Pro 13-inch Retina
Apple announced the smaller version of its high-end laptop with the sharper-resolution Retina Display at its event today in San Jose, Calif. Apple already offers a 15-inch version of the laptop with the Retina Display. And now it offers the same sharp screen for its smaller 13-inch sibling. The notebook also comes with the same dual Thunderbolt I/O connectors, as well as an SD card slot and HDMI out port found on the bigger 15-inch model. It’s 20 percent skinnier than any other MacBook on the market, and it only weighs 3.57 pounds.
13-inch MacBook Pro dons a new Retina Display for $1,699.
The price of the new 13-inch MacBook Pro starts at $1,699 for 2.5Ghz dual-core i5 processor with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of memory. That’s a full $500 less than the 15-inch MacBook Pro. But it’s $500 more expensive than the non-Retina MacBook Pro of the same size.
New Mac Mini
Apple’s Mac Mini becomes faster and more capable. The tiny desktop computer, last updated over a year ago, will have three USB 3 ports while retaining HDMI and Thunderbolt connections. Mac Mini will have three USB 3 ports, dual or quad-intel Core i5 or i7 Ivy Bridge, with Intel HD Graphics 4000, and up to 16GB of RAM. It starts at $599 for a 2.5GHz computer with 4GB of RAM and a 500GB hard drive.
There’s also a server edition for $999 that has a pair of 1TB hard drives. It ships today.
New iMac
Apple unveiled a thin new iMac today, refreshing the design and specs for its popular desktop computer. The computer also uses a new “Apple Fusion” drive, which blends a 128GB Flash memory drive with a standard hard drive that is either 1TB or 3TB in size.
The computer starts at $1,299 for a 21.5-inch model and starts shipping in November. The 27-inch model starts at $1,799 and ships in December.
4th-generation iPad!
Apple has unveiled a new, fourth-generation iPad, which replaces the slate the company announced earlier this year, starts at $499 with 16GB of storage. As before, $100 will be added to that price for every 16GB in additional storage. The device comes in black and white and has no readily noticeable design changes.
iPad Mini
The wait for iPad mini is finally over.
Apple today announced the long-awaited (and much-rumored) iPad Mini. The device, which is a smaller, slightly redesigned version of its larger slate, comes with a 7.9-inch screen.
The iPad Mini with 16GB of storage retails for $329. As with Apple’s other tablets, the company is adding $100 for each 16GB in additional storage.
